Every paragraph should contain a topic sentence, and every paragraph should contain a minimum of 3 citations (MLA). Do not wander off from your main argument (get off topic) and make sure that your reading and interpretation of the texts support your thesis statement all throughout the text. 4. Limit your use of direct quotes to only 5 in the entire essay. Do not over-quote; in other words, I am interested in your thoughts and interpretations, not in rereading books and articles. Create a block quote for quotations that are longer than 3 sentences. appreciate that I am interested in your voice and analysis, not in reading a smattering of quotations. 5. Your paper should be 7-9 pages with a conclusion. 6. Provide a Works Cited page in MLA form. 7. You must consult a minimum of 8 academic sources and 4 of these must be books found in the library. The remaining of your sources are a combination of primary sources and journal articles. I have found out that the more primary sources used the better the paper. 9. Edit your work a few times before its final submission.
